Catastrophe modelling and exposure management

I’m currently working on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst to join a fast-growing, technology-led business. With a growing international portfolio and operations spanning multiple markets, the business is investing heavily in data, analytics, automation and AI to improve how specialty risk is understood and managed.  This is a fully remote role, with candidates considered in the UK or US  As a Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst, you will play an important role in understanding and optimising catastrophe risk across a diverse global portfolio, covering territories including the US, UK, Canada and Europe. The successful candidate will work closely with teams across Exposure Management, Underwriting and Reinsurance, as well as brokers, reinsurers, capital providers and other external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years’ experience in catastrophe modelling and exposure management, strong hands-on experience with Verisk/AIR Touchstone, and good technical skills across SQL, R/Python and GIS.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across Marine, Energy, Terrorism and other specialty lines, supporting clients with risk assessment, portfolio optimisation and strategic decision-making. The role offers significant client exposure, international portfolio experience and the chance to contribute to innovative analytics projects. Key responsibilities include: • Delivering catastrophe modelling and portfolio analysis across specialty classes • Supporting clients with risk insights, portfolio optimisation and bespoke analytical projects • Leading renewal modelling exercises and assessing catastrophe risk using industry-leading models • Evaluating model updates and communicating their impact to stakeholders • Providing real-time event response and post-loss analysis • Developing new analytical solutions alongside internal teams and external partners • Mentoring junior analysts and supporting team development What we're looking for: • Experience in catastrophe modelling within the insurance, reinsurance or broking market • Knowledge of specialty classes and reinsurance structures would be advantageous • Experience with major catastrophe modelling platforms such as Moody's RMS or Verisk AIR • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills • SQL, VBA, R or other programming skills are beneficial • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients and senior stakeholders • A collaborative individual looking to develop within a high-performing analytics team This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected organisation where analytics plays a central role in client strategy, innovation and portfolio management.
