The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Manager to join a growing insurance services organisation. This role will play a key part in overseeing regulatory compliance across regulated entities and Appointed Representatives, ensuring robust governance, effective regulatory oversight, and the continued embedding of consumer-focused regulatory requirements. Working closely with senior leadership, you will lead compliance monitoring activities, provide strategic regulatory guidance, and support the development of a strong compliance culture across the business and its network of partners.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee and enhance compliance frameworks, systems and controls to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight of regulatory obligations relating to general insurance and consumer credit activities, including Consumer Duty requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme, ensuring monitoring activities are completed effectively and aligned to business objectives.
  • Review compliance monitoring outcomes and produce meaningful management information and reporting for boards, committees and senior stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and monitoring of Appointed Representatives, delegated authority businesses, brokers and distribution partners.
  • Support regulatory engagement activities and manage responses to regulatory reviews, requests and communications.
  • Prepare and review governance reports, board papers and compliance updates for senior management and risk committees.
  • Review external audit findings and monitoring reports, ensuring appropriate remedial actions are identified and implemented.
  • Act as a deputy to senior compliance leadership when required, providing subject matter expertise and representation at key meetings.
  • Lead, mentor and support members of the compliance team, encouraging professional development and technical excellence.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior management teams, business leaders and external industry bodies.
  • Promote and strengthen a positive compliance culture focused on regulatory excellence, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.
Who we’re looking for

  • Approximately five years or more of compliance experience within the general insurance or financial services sector.
  • Previous people management or leadership experience within a compliance or regulatory environment.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations and conduct requirements, including areas such as governance, product oversight and distribution.
  • Good knowledge of Consumer Duty requirements and their practical application within regulated firms.
  • Experience overseeing compliance monitoring programmes, regulatory reporting and governance activities.
  • Strong understanding of Appointed Representative oversight, delegated authority arrangements and distribution models.
  • Knowledge of wider regulatory developments impacting insurance and financial services, including data protection and distribution regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing, presentations and engagement with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, mentor colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-performing compliance function.
